Freeway Project Will Likely Cause Delays

Share

Motorists traveling along the northbound Ventura Freeway in Oxnard may experience delays this week due to a widening project between Rice and Vineyard avenues.

Traffic will be narrowed to two lanes Monday through Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. and to one lane from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Oxnard authorities said the traffic disruption is required to widen the freeway.

Southbound onramps and offramps at Rose Avenue are set to open May 24.

All area businesses will remain open during the widening project. Motorists are encouraged to use the Rice Avenue and Vineyard Avenue onramps and offramps and Rice Avenue and Auto Center Drive as alternate routes into the area.

The disruption is part of the construction of the new Rose Avenue bridge and new freeway ramps. The project is expected to be completed in 18 months.
