Proposal Calls for 8 Tennis Courts at Park

Share

The Moorpark City Council is scheduled to consider Wednesday a plan for eight tennis courts at Arroyo Vista Community Park.

The courts would be built in sets of four divided by black walnut trees. The project is to be built in two phases because not enough money has been found for the entire project, according to city staff.

The city and the Moorpark Unified School District each are contributing $176,000, short of the $471,000 required to complete the project.

In the plan by landscape architectural firm Community Works Design Groups, the first phase would cost $328,000 and “include only work that is necessary to initiate play on the courts,” the staff report said. It includes court construction, lights and fences, court striping and grading and drainage work.

The second phase would occur when additional funding becomes available. That phase includes items such as plumbing, landscaping, bleachers, walkways, wind screens and security lighting.
