A seminar to assist parents who are separated, divorced or remarried will be held at Cal State Northridge on May 30.

The free seminar, called Parents’ Day, will feature lectures and workshops on parenting plans for separated or divorced couples, children’s reactions to parents who live apart, family violence, stepfamilies and other related topics. It is being sponsored by Los Angeles Superior Court and the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles County bar associations.

Judges, attorneys and therapists will answer questions on legal, financial, social and emotional issues regarding parenting, said Gail Chase, a member of the event’s organizing committee.

“There are so many questions when couples are faced with separation or divorce, such as custody issues and child support,” said Chase, who is a licensed clinical social worker. “This event will provide an opportunity to get helpful information, and it’s free.”

Keynote speaker Isolina Ricci is scheduled to discuss her book “Mom’s House, Dad’s House,” a guide for parents who are separated, divorced or remarried.

Parents’ Day will be held at the University Student Union, on the east side of the CSUN campus, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A baby-sitting service will be provided at the event for children older than 3, by reservation only.
