City Staff Opposes Road Realignment

Share

The city’s staff recommends the Moorpark City Council write a letter to the county opposing a plan to alter the path of Moorpark Road south of the city limits.

Ventura County plans to realign Moorpark Road between Tierra Rejada and Santa Rosa roads to reduce accidents, the staff report states. County officials are proposing the realignment as part of a project to upgrade the road.

The alternative preferred by the county is to create a four-way intersection at Tierra Rejada and Spring roads, the report states. Another option is to create a four-way intersection at Science Drive and Tierra Rejada Road.

The staff report, prepared by City Planning Manager Wayne Loftus, recommends the mayor oppose the plan based on matters such as increased traffic on Spring and Tierra Rejada roads.

The county is preparing an environmental report on the $3.5-million project and will receive comments until May 29.

This matter is scheduled for consideration during Wednesday’s regular City Council meeting.
