City-Owned Lots for Sale--at Lower Price

Share

For the second time this year, officials will attempt to sell four, vacant city-owned lots, this time at lower prices.

In January, the city advertised the sale, but received a single bid on just one lot, well below the asking price, said Paul Larkin, real estate agent for the city.

“We are putting them on the market again because they just wouldn’t sell,” he said. “Apparently they were overpriced.”

City officials said they hope new asking prices--about 25% lower--will draw buyers to submit sealed bids by 5 p.m. June 4. The bids will be opened and considered the following day.

The four properties, all zoned for housing, include the following: four parcels at Alabama Street and Nashville Avenue priced at $360,000; one lot at 602 Yorktown Ave. priced at $75,000; one lot at 620 Yorktown Ave. for $75,000; and one lot at 2501 England St. for $60,000.

The city accumulated the lots through the years from various street widening and other development projects.
