A man was struck in the head with a pistol and his watch stolen during an armed robbery Wednesday in south Oxnard, police said.

The victim was sitting in a parked car on Hull Place near K Street when he was attacked about 3:30 a.m. by three male suspects, one of whom was carrying a handgun, according to the Oxnard Police Department.

The victim had stopped along the road while driving home with a co-worker, police said. The victim, who asked to not be identified, did not require hospitalization, police said.

As the victim and his passenger sat, the armed suspect walked up to the driver’s door and told the men to remain still and hand over any valuables, police said. The armed man then struck the driver in the head.

After the attack, the victim followed one of the suspects and told police where he could be found.

Police arrested 18-year-old Oxnard resident Joshua Sanchez on suspicion of robbery.

Sanchez remained jailed Wednesday night, but he was not believed to be the gunman. The gun and watch have not been recovered and police were searching for the other two suspects.
