Meeting Today to Address Plans for Delhi Center

Share

Hundreds of residents are expected at a meeting today with local and state officials about the future of the Delhi Community Center.

City officials once had big plans for the center area, including an expansion of Delhi Park and the addition of a 31,000-square-foot building. Officials wanted to create the city’s largest community services clearinghouse, from food distribution to AIDS care and recreation programs for children.

Since then, the project has run into funding and other delays.

The meeting will include information about Assemblyman Jim Morrissey’s (R-Santa Ana) request that $8 million to complete the project be included in the governor’s budget.

Mayor Miguel A. Pulido Jr. and several representatives of the Santa Ana Unified School District also will attend the meeting, organized by the Orange County Congregation Community Organization, to hear residents’ concerns about the shortage of park and recreation space in Santa Ana.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1344 S. Main St.
