Deadline to Apply for Councils Extended
The deadline for submitting applications to serve on one of the city’s four neighborhood councils has been extended to 5 p.m. Tuesday.
With 25 positions available, Simi Valley needs residents interested in taking a direct role in the leadership of their community. Officials are extending the deadline because more applicants are needed.
Meeting once a month, the neighborhood councils serve as advisory committees to the Planning Commission, City Council and staff members.
Issues most often reviewed by the councils concern development, traffic, public safety and environmental planning.
Applications will be reviewed by staff members, with the City Council making final appointments of members to two-year terms that begin July 1.
For further information or to get an application, call Mike Spencer, neighborhood councils coordinator, at 583-6756.
