Reservoir Replacement Project to Be Discussed

Share

City officials will seek public comment tonight at a meeting about the proposed replacement of the Coldwater Canyon reservoir and construction of a supplemental reservoir.

The 7.7-million-gallon Coldwater reservoir, built 70 years ago, does not meet seismic codes and needs to be reconstructed, said David Gustavson, the city’s deputy director of public works.

Before the city can shut down the reservoir, which is located across from Coldwater Canyon Park, it hopes to build a 1.8-million-gallon supplemental reservoir on city-owned property between Beverly and Woodland drives, north of Lexington Road.

The project, if approved, would take about three years to complete, Gustavson said.

Tonight’s meeting will take place during the 45-day period for public comment on the draft environmental impact report on the project. Questions and comments will be addressed in writing by the report consultants.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the City Council chambers, 455 N. Rexford Drive.
