“Folk Art to Funk to Textiles, Costumes & Clothing,” an antique and collectible extravaganza, will fill Santa Monica Civic Auditorium with a melange of jewelry and accessories, buttons and beads, vintage clothing and quilts, lace and linens, military items, antique advertising, garden statuary and old toys.

Preschoolers and early elementary school-age kids can crawl through mole tunnels, make a spider web, visit bubble ponds and a creepy cavern, take a nature trail hike, get up-close and personal with hissing cockroaches, starfish and other critters and listen to the Sunshine Band, at the Kids’ Nature Festival & Concert, presented by the Children’s Nature Institute.

11 am: Photography

“Still/Moving,” the first of eight exhibitions devoted to the still photographs of noted cinematographers, opens with works by Vilmos Zsigmond and Phil Parmet. Zsigmond’s credits include “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” (for which he won an Oscar), “Deliverance,” “Heaven’s Gate” and “The Deer Hunter.” Parmet, a former photojournalist and news cameraman, was director of photography for indie films “In the Soup,” “Black & White” and the upcoming “Out on My Feet.”

Two of this decade’s most acclaimed jazz figures, nimble saxophonist Joe Lovano and Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, have teamed for a duo recording, “Flying Colors,” a one-on-one testament to their personal and collaborative skills. They’ll create similar interplay and improvisation during this jazz duet summit meeting.

8:15 pm: Pop Music

Tom Jones and Mick Jagger aren’t the only fiftysomething singers who still know a thing or two about swiveling hips and bedroom eyes. Venezuela’s Jose Luis Rodriguez--known as “El Puma”--has maintained his status as one of Latin pop’s perennial sex symbols into prosperous middle age.

Noon: Music Festival

Terrance Simien, Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, Rosie Ledet & the Zydeco Playboys, and Walter Mouton & the Scott Playboys heat things up at the 12th annual Southern California Cajun/Zydeco Festival. They’ll play both days of the event, which also features children’s activities, a daily Mardi Gras parade, Creole cuisine and dance instruction in the Cajun two-step, the Zydeco jitterbug and more.
