A 19-year-old student at Loara High School in Anaheim was arrested Wednesday for allegedly making threats to kill several people, police said.

Franz Gerald Tissera, who had been suspended from school Tuesday, was arrested at his home after he threatened to kill a vice principal, a teacher, a student and the student’s family, authorities said.

Though Tissera said he had access to firearms, investigators found no weapons at his home, said Sgt. Joe Vargas of the Anaheim Police Department.

“Any student who engages in threatening behavior will face action immediately, swiftly and surely,” Vargas said. “It will not be tolerated.”

He said investigators plan to take the case to the district attorney to decide what charges, if any, should be filed against Tissera.

“Given the current environment, I don’t know that they will be lenient,” Vargas said.

The incident happened the day that hundreds of students returned to school in Springfield, Ore., where last week a 15-year-old boy opened fire in the school cafeteria, killing two classmates and wounding 22 others.

Vargas said Tissera was being held at the Anaheim City Jail on Wednesday night on $25,000 bail.
