A 16-year-old fugitive from Colorado was arrested in Simi Valley on Friday after he shot a Box Canyon woman in the chest with a BB gun, authorities said.

The boy had been considered armed and dangerous after being seen with a handgun as he stole a truck recently in Rifle, Colo., according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

About 3 p.m., the boy and three friends passed Kimberly Wesley-Little, 34, as she was collecting her mail outside her Box Canyon Road home, deputies said. The teen shot Wesley-Little twice and then fled in the stolen truck with his friends, deputies said.

Although Wesley-Little suffered two welts, she and her husband chased the truck in separate vehicles. Her husband collided with the truck near the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Kuehner Drive in Simi Valley, then held the 16-year-old until deputies arrived, deputies said.

A search netted the boy’s friends, Canoga Park residents Michael Martinez and Mike Moehn, both 20, and Stephen Payne, a 20-year-old from Littleton, Colo., deputies said.
