VICTIMIZED

Perhaps you could let your readers know under what rock you found Donald Chase (“Shoulda Taken the Summer Job,” May 24)? His printing “Brokedown Palace” director Jonathan Kaplan’s smear job of Ronald Reagan just sort of sneaks up and pops you right in the face. It blindsides the unwary when they least expect it. I must have missed the time in our history, let alone the Reagan years, when it was trendy to blame the victim of a gang rape.

Sometime in the future, will The Times print an article that says schoolyard shootings were trendy during the Clinton years? You liberals will use any excuse to get your political messages in, but this particular one has a really bad odor.

I was in Manila, Philippines, when the movie “Brokedown Palace,” starring Claire Danes, was shot in that country, so Donald Chase’s article easily caught my interest.

However, I was disappointed to see that the name of one of my favorite cities, Mandaluyong, was misspelled.
