Change of Scenery Doesn’t Do Vigilantes Good

The Chico Heat remained unbeaten Saturday night with a 9-3 victory over the visiting Vigilantes at Nettleton Stadium.

The Heat (7-0), the defending Western Baseball League champion, scored three runs in the second inning and four in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead.

Bo Durkac and Terrel Hansen each had two runs batted in to lead Chico. Pitcher Scott Navarro was the winner, improving his record to 2-0.

The Vigilantes (2-5), playing their first game on the road, scored two runs in the fourth and one in the seventh.

Alan Burke had two RBIs to lead the Vigilantes, who lost their second consecutive game. Pitcher Kirk Irvine was the loser, falling to 0-2.

Chico, which had 10 hits, scored all of its runs without the aid of a home run.
