All the Right Moves

Ohhhh! Your aching back. After it stops throbbing, there are things you can do to avoid reinjuring it. Just remember: Learn to move, lift and sit correctly. Here are some suggestions:

* When you’re moving, bend at the hips and knees. Don’t bend at the waist or twist around.

* When you’re lifting, keep the object close to your body. Use your legs for power, not your back. Don’t try to be macho and lift more than you can handle.

* When sitting, keep your lower back supported. Use a rolled-up towel or something similar, such as a piece of clothing, if need be.
