The American Renegade Repertory Company was awarded a $225,000 loan by the Community Redevelopment Agency to complete construction of its theater on Magnolia Street, in the North Hollywood Arts District.

The loan, approved this week by the Los Angeles City Council, will allow the theater company to complete its lighting, carpeting and painting, as well as pay for installation of a neon sign, said David Cox, president of the group.

The $750,000 theater is expected to open in February, Cox said.

The CRA previously awarded the company a $50,000 facade loan to complete the exterior of the building, Cox said. In addition to the CRA loans, he said, his nonprofit organization received a $550,000 federal loan to help build the theater.
