First Lady, Mrs. Gore to Visit the Region
The White House announced Thursday that First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and Tipper Gore, wife of Vice President Al Gore, will visit storm-ravaged Central America.
The first lady will expand a previously scheduled Nov. 16 trip to the region to include stops in damaged communities, and the vice president’s wife will accompany a shipment of supplies there Nov. 10-11.
The $70-million U.S. aid package will pay for at least 11,200 tons of wheat and other food, Defense Department supplies including medical provisions, transportation and search-and-rescue efforts.
