Green-Geter Fined $12,000 for Late Campaign Reports
The Fair Political Practices Commission has imposed a $12,000 fine on Lynwood Unified School District board member Cynthia Green-Geter for failing to submit election campaign disclosure statements in a timely manner.
The commission had alleged in a six-count complaint that Green-Geter did not file her campaign contribution disclosure statements in a timely manner when she ran for the school board in 1995 and then, unsuccessfully, for state Assembly in 1996.
The Lynwood official had a chance to contest the commission’s complaint but failed to do so, said commission spokesman Gary Huckaby. The penalty was the maximum the commission could levy for the six violations.
Green-Geter said Friday that the commission imposed the fine without hearing mitigating evidence. She said her campaign manager had failed to report the contributions on time and that personal problems had prevented her from keeping a careful watch on the matter.
She said she will appeal the fine.
