Once again, Trung Canidate proved he can score from anywhere on the field.

The junior tailback, who has five career touchdowns of at least 45 yards, added to his reputation for big plays Saturday night with first-quarter touchdown runs of 75 and 45 yards as No. 10 Arizona routed Washington State, 41-7, at Tucson.

It was the fourth consecutive one-sided victory for the streaking Wildcats since their loss to No. 3 UCLA.

Canidate’s long runs erased a 7-3 Washington State lead as the Wildcats (9-1 overall, 5-1 in the Pac-10) achieved their highest victory total since their 10-2 Fiesta Bowl season of 1993.

“He was amazing again,” Arizona quarterback Keith Smith said. “All he needs is a little room and he shoots right through it. He’s a little sprinter that nobody can catch. After he started running for the second one, I just threw my hands up because I knew nobody was going to catch him.”

Kelvin Eafon rushed for his 15th and 16th touchdowns for Arizona, which has outscored its last four opponents, 152-24.

In all, the Wildcats rolled up a season-high 361 yards rushing.

Washington State (3-6, 0-6) committed five turnovers, losing its sixth in a row to slip closer to becoming the first Pac-10 team to go from first to last in one season.

Arizona State 55, California 22--It was a mixed day for the Sun Devils at Tempe, Ariz., as they moved to within a victory of the six required for postseason play but lost quarterback Ryan Kealy because of a sprained knee.

Kealy, who had reconstructive surgery on his right knee in the off-season, was in action until Arizona State’s last offensive play of the second quarter, throwing an 11-yard scoring pass to Todd Heap with 52 seconds left and handing off to Jeff Paulk for a one-yard touchdown 47 seconds later. The quick scores sent the Sun Devils (5-4, 4-2) to a 31-10 halftime lead over the Golden Bears (5-4, 3-3).

California quarterback Justin Vedder threw five interceptions.
