The Chicago Blackhawks led, 2-1, after two periods but ended up losing to the Edmonton Oilers, 3-2, in overtime Sunday night at Chicago.

The loss extended the Blackhawks’ winless streak to six games (0-5-1). They haven’t beaten the Oilers in five games, dating to Jan. 8, 1977, going 0-2-3 since then.

The Oilers, meanwhile, won coming from behind for the first time this season. They were 0-4-0 in games in which they trailed or were tied after two periods.

Chicago Coach Dirk Graham said, “It’s frustrating and I’m sure it’s frustrating for the guys. They’re working hard and not getting any results from their work.

“The problem is we didn’t come out focused to play. We didn’t work together and weren’t on the same page.”

Calgary 3, Colorado 1--Rookie goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere had 39 saves at Calgary as the Flames beat the Avalanche and Patrick Roy, his goaltending idol.

“Every Quebec goalie tries to pattern himself after him,” said Giguere, whose only other taste of the NHL came two seasons ago when he appeared in eight games with the Hartford Whalers.

Tampa Bay 3, New Jersey 1--The Lightning continued to shed its losers image as Michal Sykora scored the game-winning goal with 17:39 to play and Daren Puppa stopped 34 shots at Tampa, Fla.

The victory lifted Tampa Bay to .500 mark for the first time since Oct. 10, 1997--a span of 91 games.
