3 Men Killed in Shootout at Restaurant
Three men were killed by gunfire Thursday afternoon in a family restaurant.
Officers found the three seriously wounded when they arrived at Mexico 86 on Gage Avenue about 1:20 p.m. One lay in the parking lot and two were inside, Police Sgt. James Kinsey said.
Paramedics rushed all three to hospitals, where they were pronounced dead. Police withheld their names pending notification of their families.
“The inside of the business was riddled with bullet holes,” Kinsey said. “From what I hear, it’s a pretty incredible scene.”
Although police detained two possible suspects late Thursday evening, Kinsey said detectives remained unsure of the motive for the shootout. None of the people involved were gang members, he said.
Police are seeking two more suspects and believe that at least two of the dead men were probably involved in the battle.
“Two of the victims that were shot were armed,” Kinsey said. Officers recovered three semiautomatic handguns from the scene.
