Poll Materials

Share

On Nov. 3, I had the honor of serving as a judge at a local polling place. I was amazed at the quality of the systems and materials that have been developed for the purpose of facilitating the voting process and for assuring the security and integrity of the ballots cast by the voters. Clear, complete and concise instructions are provided to the volunteers at the polling place for handling myriad problems and situations that may be encountered. Materials, including booths, voting machines, lights, ballots, practice ballots, provisional ballots, voter indexes and registers and many other items are carefully packaged and labeled for use. Flags and signs are provided along with various spare parts. Procedures for reconciling the numbers of voters with the count of ballots cast help ensure an honest tabulation.

I believe the public should salute the county employees who are re- sponsible for supplying the machinery of the voting process.
