Greedy Execs Are In for Rude Awakening

* “Clock Ticking on Lackluster Mervyn’s” [Oct. 14] represents a disturbing trend in American business. The threatened closing of a profitable enterprise (Mervyn’s) does not represent the American dream of business.
Greed requires that the profit must continue to expand at a high rate. Can this trend continue? Do the American people have an infinite pocketbook to keep the profits rising? The answer is no.
These greedy executives are in for a rude awakening. These executives continue to cut wages while expecting sales to grow. Money for consumer goods does not grow on trees. When will this ridiculous trend stop?
