Candidates to Speak at Democratic Club

Share

The fledgling Simi Valley Democratic Club meets tonight to elect its first slate of officers.

In addition to the election, several successful and unsuccessful candidates for office earlier this month will provide tales of the campaign trail.

Speakers include congressional candidate Dan Gonzalez, who lost in his attempt to unseat U.S. Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley); Carla Kurachi, who won a third term to the local school board; and Steve Gould, who fell short in his school board election bid.

The 4-month-old club has 37 members, almost equal to its much older counterpart in Thousand Oaks, said interim President Grace Bernstein.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the community room of the Simi Valley Library, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
