Franklin Telecom of Westlake Village has opened a product-development facility in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The new facility is housing the development team assigned to the Voice Router Internet Telephone System.
“We need to attract engineers with computer telephony, PBX and key system experience to augment our expertise in LAN / WAN networking,” said Frank Peters, Franklin founder and CEO. “The greater Phoenix area, and specifically the Scottsdale Technology Airpark, has become a major center for telecommunications equipment manufacturing.”
John Saltwick, vice president of engineering, heads the new center.
In addition to engineering, the Scottsdale office will include sales and marketing personnel.
Peters said the rapid growth of FNet, Franklin’s telephone subsidiary, is making the Westlake Village headquarters too crowded.
“In the last year and a half, we’ve expanded into two additional buildings and we’re still running out of room,” he said. “We already have sales representatives working in various areas around the country. The Scottsdale facility will be a secondary hub for sales.”
