Bonkers for the Beatles

Beatles mouse pads, puzzles, belt buckles and pins, plaques and plates--everything and anything having to do with the Fab Four will take center stage when the 22nd Annual Beatlefest comes to Los Angeles this weekend.

The lineup of guests includes German photographer Astrid Kirchherr (the movie “BackBeat” was based on her story), who will mount an exhibit of rare photographs; Barry Miles, author of a Paul McCartney bio, “Many Years From Now”; and Richard Buskin, whose new book, “Days in the Life: The Lost Beatles Archive,” uncovers dozens of previously unreleased photos.

Also on tap: Beatles films on the big screen, auctions, a Beatles puppet show, John Lennon art exhibit, battle of the Beatle bands, memorabilia marketplace and more.

Event producer Mark Lapidos says enthusiasm for the Beatles has only grown in recent years. “It’s a great event. People dress up in Sgt. Pepper outfits and early Beatles outfits, we have a great sound-alike band, and we draw two or three generations of fans who all come because they have a common love of the Beatles.”
