The Last Word on Cher’s Firsts

Share

In her new book, “The First Time” (Simon & Schuster), pop music changeling Cher offers readers a series of frank “firsts” in her life--from her first bra (a 32 AAA) to her first sexual experience. Then again, Cher has never been known for her modesty.

The first time she saw Sonny Bono, Cher was 16. She writes: “I thought, ‘That’s the strangest man I’ve ever seen in my life. He had a weird hairstyle, somewhere between Caesar and Napoleon. He was wearing a mustard-colored shirt with white collar and cuffs, a mustard tie, tight black mohair pants, and black Cuban-heeled boots. . . . I thought to myself, ‘You’re never going to be the same.’ ”

Other firsts: First time she learned daughter Chastity was gay (it seems she was the last to know); first Bob Mackie gown; first tattoo (a butterfly); first infomercial (for Lori Davis hair care products); and first eulogy, for Sonny. The book is co-written by Jeff Coplon.
