* Re “Rewriting History” (Nov. 18), and those who make the history books and those who do not: What a sad commentary on our state Board of Education. They chose to omit important persons like Ethel Rosenberg and Indira Gandhi and leave in John Wayne and Sally Ride. How boring and narrow-minded. Our educators must take it upon themselves to take risks and teach creatively, departing from the standard curriculum. Our young children must be given the opportunity to think about controversial figures and decide for themselves if they belong in the history books!
