PASADENA — Washington Accelerated School will become a model learning center that will seek participation from students’ families as a way to boost academic performance.
The school was selected from among 11 campuses in the Pasadena Unified School District to join the program, sponsored by Community Vision Unlimited, a Pasadena nonprofit group.
Community Vision will contribute $600,000 to pay for six staff members to run the new learning center.
The organization has pledged more than $3 million to help students in the Pasadena school district, officials said.
The learning center plans to integrate regular school activities with programs designed to share resources with families.
