CS STANISLAUS (2-2) at UC IRVINE (0-1), 7:30 p.m., KUCI (88.9)

A Division II opponent is just what the Anteaters need after losing to Pepperdine, 71-58, in their opener. “At this stage, any win is a good win,” Coach Pat Douglass said. It would also help the maturing process considerably, since Irvine will likely start four first-year players, including a freshman backcourt of Jerry Green and Gabe Cagwin. The three Irvine centers had three rebounds among them--none offensive--against Pepperdine. That should improve, considering Stanislaus has only two players taller than 6 feet 6. One of them, 6-7 junior forward Adam Stetson, is out at least three weeks with a partially torn ligament in his left foot. Guard Jared Gibson averages 18 points to lead Stanislaus.
