Apparently, Jamie McLennan is a quick healer.

Three nights after leaving a game with back spasms, the St. Louis Blues’ goaltender earned his first shutout of the season Tuesday night in a 4-0 victory over the Nashville Predators at St. Louis.

“Spasms happen, and I really wanted to play,” said McLennan, who had two shutouts last season. “I’m glad we got a few days between games.”

McLennan left Saturday’s game against the Dallas Stars after one period. After two days of treatment, he woke up Tuesday feeling fine, and he showed no signs of stiffness against the Predators, turning away 19 shots.

That was good news for the Blues because McLennan is the backup to the injured Grant Fuhr, who is sidelined four-six weeks because of a groin strain.

Phoenix 3, Chicago 2--The Coyotes won their sixth in a row as Keith Tkachuk scored twice and assisted on Jeremy Roenick’s decisive goal at Phoenix.

The Coyotes are 10-0-2 in their last 12 games--the second-longest unbeaten streak in franchise history. They can could tie their franchise mark--set as the Winnipeg Jets during the 1984-85 season--Thursday night against the New Jersey Devils.

The game also was 15th in a row in which the Coyotes have held opponents to two goals or fewer--the longest streak since the 1958-59 Montreal Canadiens set the NHL record of 18 in a row.

Boston 4, Tampa Bay 1--The Bruins scored three goals in the last six minutes at Tampa, Fla., to send the Lightning to its sixth consecutive loss.

Ray Bourque scored the winner on a power play with 5:41 to play.

“We didn’t panic,” Bruin Coach Pat Burns said. “We got the tying goal [and] kept going after them.”
