Dense-Pac Reports a Net Loss

Dense-Pac Microsystems Inc., the Garden Grove designer of three-dimensional memory products, reported a second-quarter net loss of $2.7 million, or 15 cents a share, which included inventory write-downs of $774,000 related to discontinued product lines, and other expenses of $372,000 related to the write-down of fixed assets. A year earlier, the company posted a profit of $507,000, or 3 cents a share. Revenue for the quarter ended Aug. 31 declined 39% to $2.8 million from $4.6 million.

The company said it took steps during August to streamline operations by reducing expenses and discontinuing engineering and marketing efforts for certain products.
