Junior League’s Annual Rummage Sale This Weekend

More than 3,000 people are expected to turn out this weekend in Santa Monica for the Junior League of Los Angeles’ 13th annual rummage sale.

The sale, which will feature donated items from 1,200 members of the Junior League and area merchants, will benefit programs that aid women, children and families. The Junior League of Los Angeles promotes local improvement projects and community volunteerism.

The event will be held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main St., Santa Monica, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. For more information, call (310) 451-8551.

Shop Till It Stops: In its fifth annual Shop Till It Stops day, Marshalls stores will donate 1% of sales from all stores today to the Family Violence Prevention Fund. The organization will use the funds to help educate Americans about how domestic violence affects families and communities.

Domestic Abuse Campaign: Liz Claiborne stores will also join the campaign to stop domestic violence with its fifth annual Charity Shopping Day today in which 10% of sales in participating stores will benefit the programs of Jenesse Center, Glendale YWCA Shelter, Haven Hills Inc. and Interval House. Participating Liz Claiborne stores include those in the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance, the Glendale Galleria, Topanga Plaza in Canoga Park and South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.

The Benefit of Shopping: Bloomingdale’s expects to raise more than $100,000 on Wednesday at the Shopping Benefit in Century City, a multi-charity event to raise money and awareness for more than 60 nonprofit organizations such as AIDS Project Los Angeles, Tuesday’s Child, Project Angel Food, the Venice Family Clinic and the Los Angeles Children’s Museum.

The event, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., will include entertainment, demonstrations, fashion shows, discounts and prizes. Admission is $10 a person (children 12 and younger are free), with 100% of ticket proceeds to benefit the participating charities. Bloomingdale’s will donate an additional $5 per ticket sold.
