Circuit City Group said sales at its stores open at least a year rose 11% in September over September of last year on strong demand for personal computers, big-screen televisions and satellite-TV programming. Total sales for the company, which also owns a 77% interest in used-car retailer CarMax Group, rose 21% to $694 million. At CarMax, same-store sales fell 3%, while total sales rose 54% to $112.5 million.
