Anaheim City Council

* PIG ORDINANCE: The council will consider allowing potbellied pigs to be house pets. The city’s Planning Commission recently reviewed the proposal and is recommending that the council keep an ordinance that prohibits the animals on residential properties of less than 1 acre. If the city keeps the ordinance, the commission recommends that the city delay enforcement for 90 days to give pig owners time to remove their pets.

If the council decides to allow pet pigs, commissioners suggest that owners provide a concrete surface for the animals and that they pay a fee to cover the cost of an inspection should a code enforcement officer be called to a home after a complaint.
