Person Killed as House Explodes
San Bernardino fire investigators found a body charred beyond recognition in the wreckage of a home that exploded off its foundation and into the street Monday. The massive explosion--possibly sparked by a natural gas leak--led to a neighborhood evacuation, authorities said. The blast jolted the neighborhood and left part of the house’s roof leaning into a tree, and another section atop a car. Firefighters spent nearly two hours extinguishing the fire before a hazardous materials team was allowed to inspect the house for possible causes of the blaze, a city Fire Department spokesman said.
