Volunteers Sought to Perform Marriages

Share

Officials are seeking volunteers to perform marriage ceremonies for the county registrar-recorder’s main office in Norwalk and at branch offices in Van Nuys and Los Angeles.

Volunteers will be trained to perform a legal ceremony and complete marriage certificates, said Kathy Treggs, manager of public records for the registrar’s office.

Most volunteers work from 2 to 4 hours one day a week, she said. The ideal candidate should be “a happy person with a bubbling personality,” Treggs said.

Volunteers have been officiating at marriages in the registrar’s main office in Norwalk since 1997, Treggs said. Ceremonies are performed there Monday through Friday by appointment.

District offices in Van Nuys, East Los Angeles and in the soon-to-open Florence-Firestone office also need volunteers. Ceremonies are performed at the branch offices on Fridays by appointment.
