MTA Still Lacks Plan to Aid Lankershim Merchants
Business owners along Lankershim Boulevard whose sales have stalled during several weekends of road repairs will have to wait a little longer for a plan to jump-start their revenues.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which tore up the road during construction of the North Hollywood Metro Red Line station, was supposed to present a recovery plan for merchants at Wednesday’s meeting of the City Council’s Transportation Committee. The MTA has closed parts of the road for the past four weekends.
Ronald Deaton, the city’s chief legislative analyst, appeared briefly before the committee to say he had “discussed the possibilities” with MTA head Julian Burke but that they had not decided how to offset losses suffered by the businesses.
Deaton said he would return with a plan in two weeks.
