Student in Hit-Run Dies; Marine Charged

A Japanese high school student on the island of Okinawa has died of injuries from a hit-and-run accident in which a U.S. Marine has been charged, raising fears of new tensions between residents and the American military. Yuki Uema, 18, died from head injuries a week after Marine Cpl. Randall M. Eskridge, 23, of LaPorte, Ind., allegedly struck her motorcycle and fled the scene. Eskridge has not entered a plea.
