Update--An 86th-minute goal by midfielder Jesse Marsch gave the Fire a 1-0 victory at the Rose Bowl on Saturday and a one-game lead in the best-of-three series. The Galaxy must win tonight in Soldier Field or be eliminated. A Fire victory will put the expansion team in the league’s championship game, MLS Cup ‘98, at the Rose Bowl on Oct. 25. Defending champion Washington D.C. United holds a 1-0 lead over the Columbus Crew in the Eastern Conference finals. Game 2, on Sunday at Columbus, Ohio, will be shown on Channel 7 at 1 p.m PDT.
