Yankee legend and Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio, 83, has been hospitalized since Monday because of a bout with pneumonia.

“He’s had pneumonia three months,” said Morris Engelberg, a longtime friend. “He walked around with it for a couple of months. He couldn’t knock it out.

“He should be out this Monday.”

Officials at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., declined to comment on DiMaggio’s condition. Engelberg said the Hall of Fame center fielder prefers it that way.

After 2 1/2 months of negotiations, John Henry has completed an agreement to purchase the Florida Marlins from Wayne Huizenga for $150 million, a source close to the talks said.

Henry scheduled a conference call with the media for today, then postponed it a short time later because Major League Baseball doesn’t permit major announcements during the World Series.
