DWP Sale of Building

Share

Re “Police Station Plan Heads Toward Council,” Oct. 8.

I read with interest the article regarding the Department of Water and Power selling the Anthony Building to the city of Los Angeles. The DWP selling the Anthony Building to the city?

As I recall the DWP is owned by the city, us taxpayers, and its rates are set by the City Council. Thus the DWP’s profits are transferred to the city treasury.

Unless I am incorrect the DWP, since it used the city’s money to construct a building that it never really did need, ought to give the building to the city since it was constructed with money that would have otherwise have gone to the city anyhow, right?

Also, I noted that the “building is located within a few miles of the geographic center of the valley.” That’s an interesting computation. There are less than two miles of city territory to the east of the building and nearly 15 miles to the west.

That notwithstanding, the subway system will never work if it’s never built. Give our subway a chance.
