Foundation to Be Formed in Memory of Sherrice Iverson

Community activists plan to announce today the creation of a foundation in memory of Sherrice Iverson, the 7-year-old girl from South-Central Los Angeles who was killed in a Nevada Casino last year.

Iverson was strangled and sexually attacked in a bathroom stall by Jeremy Strohmeyer, a Long Beach teenager who was sentenced to life in prison last week after pleading guilty to the murder.

During a news conference at the Leimert Park Art Gallery, community activist Najee Ali and other family supporters will announce the creation of the Sherrice Iverson Foundation to combat child pornography on the Internet.

In memory of Sherrice, who would have turned 9 today, Ali is asking supporters to observe nine seconds of silence at noon.
