Hearing to Focus on Law Enforcement Grant

Share

The city is holding a public hearing tonight to determine how it should spend more than $180,000 in federal law enforcement grants.

The Community Resources Advisory Commission’s hearing will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 6615 S. Passons Blvd.

Commissioners have proposed that the money be used to repay the cost of reopening the Pico Rivera sheriff’s station last year and to pay for two deputies at the station, one to work with gang prevention and another to organize youth activities at parks next summer.

In the past, the grant has been used to pay for computer equipment and adding deputies to fight truancy, gang violence and cruising, city spokeswoman Vivien Hao said.
