Church to Hold Holiday Boutique

A holiday boutique will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Oxnard’s First Presbyterian Church in the fellowship hall. The public is welcome.

A Bible study and worship in Spanish are held on Friday evenings at 7 for adults and youth. Child care is available.

Church Plans Boutique, Lunch

Ventura’s First Christian Church will hold its annual boutique and luncheon from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

Handcrafted items, decorations, jams, pickles, baked goods and candies will be sold. A $5 lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost for children under age 10 is $1.50.

Temple Offers Evening of Fun

Temple Etz Chaim in Thousand Oaks will hold Monte Carlo night today, with games of chance, prizes, a raffle, dinner and an auction scheduled. The $25 ticket includes dinner and $1,000 in fun money.

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., and the casino will open at 7. Proceeds will support the temple’s youth programs.

Series on Judaism, Homosexuality

Rabbi Lisa Hochberg-Miller will continue her Lifelong Learning Series at Ventura’s Temple Beth Torah with a discussion titled “Judaism and Homosexuality” on Sunday. The informal class begins at 9:40 a.m. in the social hall.

The second of a three-part introduction to Judaism will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Participants will explore modern Reform perspectives on Jewish spirituality and values.

New Series of Evening Classes

The Conejo Valley Consortium for Adult Jewish Education is offering a new series of evening classes in Thousand Oaks and Agoura Hills.

“Jewish Home Depot” with Rabbi Nina Feinstein begins Tuesday at Temple Beth Haverim at 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, “Eco-Kosher and Feng Shui” combines Chinese environmental science and Jewish sensibilities at Temple Etz Chaim.

At Temple Adat Elohim in Thousand Oaks, “Carnal Israel: Gender, Love and Marriage in Ancient Israel” will be held weekly at 7:30 p.m. beginning Thursday.

Workshop to Focus on Feng Shui

The Unity Center Church of Agoura Hills will offer an introduction to Oriental feng shui principles on Friday. Feng shui is used as a guide in selecting and placing elements in a harmonious space.

Congregation B’nai Emet in Simi Valley will hold a celebration Nov. 6-8 to mark its 20th anniversary and Israel’s 50th anniversary.

Society to Hold Rummage Sale

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Thousand Oaks’ St. Paschal Baylon Church is preparing for its annual rummage sale on the church grounds Nov. 6 and 7.

Proceeds will help those in need.

“Over the past five years, we have helped more than 600 individuals and families in this area,” said society President Don Zweng.
