The accident occurred at 7:44 p.m. on Newport Boulevard, south of 18th Street.
A woman was driving north on Newport Boulevard when her Honda Accord crossed the center divider and crashed into a Ford pickup heading south on the same road, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Don Holford said.
The driver who allegedly caused the accident was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
Two people traveling in the other vehicle were sent to UCI Medical Center in Orange.
The injuries were not considered life-threatening, Holford said.
