Re “Registration: Testing Will to Vote,” Voices, Oct. 17: Like Sylvia Tidwell, I also recently moved and needed to re-register to vote. My experience, however, was entirely different and was even better than that suggested by Sally McKenna, of the registrar’s office, in her response to the difficulties of Tidwell. Registering was easy beyond my wildest dreams. Here’s what happened.

I looked up the phone number for the County Registrar of Voters and gave them a call. The phone was answered on the second ring by a person! A courteous, knowledgeable woman told me that I could register by mail and that she would send me the needed form. The form arrived promptly. I filled it out, mailed it back and was immediately re-registered. I was amazed. Nothing ever works that well. My hat’s off to the registrar’s office.
