The pilot of a single-engine plane made an emergency landing Sunday, clipping a truck with its wing as it descended on a rural street.

Nobody was seriously injured when the plane, a 1968 six-seat Beechcraft Bonanza, landed at 10:30 a.m. on 30th Street East at Avenue P-8, according to Sgt. Scott Brickert, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The plane was en route to Sacramento from Brackett Field in La Verne when the pilot reported that his engine stalled and he could not restart it, authorities said.

“He notified the Palmdale air base he was experiencing an emergency and wanted to land, but he came down two miles short [of the airfield],” Brickert said.

Passenger Domenik Van Hoogmoed, 36, of La Habra suffered minor cuts and scrapes, authorities said. His 3-year-old son, Domenik Jr., was unhurt as was pilot Ed Long, 57, of La Habra Heights.

On the ground, Joe Shely, 24, of Palmdale also escaped injury when the back of his gray Chevrolet pickup was struck by the plane.

After clipping Shely’s truck, the plane landed on a dirt shoulder on 30th Street East, Brickert said. The plane sustained damage to its landing gear and right wing.

Diana Brown, an operations officer for the Federal Aviation Administration in Los Angeles said the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Boardplanned to investigate the incident.
