Man Surrenders in Barricaded House
Sheriff’s SWAT officers and hostage negotiators surrounded a house for about two hours Monday morning after a resident barricaded himself inside.
Authorities believe Tobias McThomas called an emergency dispatcher at 6:05 a.m., saying his roommate was unconscious and needed help. While the ambulance was responding, the caller said he had a knife and that he would not allow anyone to enter his home on the 1400 block of Calle Madreselva.
Negotiators talked with McThomas until 8:50 a.m., when he walked out of his house and was taken into custody without incident. No one was found in the house. McThomas, who police say is in his 20s, was taken to a mental health facility for evaluation.
