Police Seek Suspect in Shooting of Driver
Police were searching for a suspect who allegedly shot a 27-year-old man, leaving him brain-dead and on life support.
Ismael Gutierrez, 27, of Huntington Park shot Lorenzo Vasquez, 27, of Los Angeles about 3:30 p.m. Friday near State Street and Saturn Avenue, said Huntington Park Police Lt. Tom Weselis.
Both men were in their cars when a confrontation between them began, Weselis said. Gutierrez shot Vasquez at least twice in the head, police said.
“After the victim was hit, he collided with a parked vehicle, struck a tree and came to rest in the front yard of a house,” Weselis said. Vasquez remained on life support Monday evening, he said.
Police said they have no motive for the shooting, but witness reports suggest the men knew each other. Gutierrez was driving a faded blue or gray 1984 Plymouth Voyager van with California license 4CFY126.
